A noticeboard, not a recruitment agency.
Most job sites are built for people who are happy to be filtered, tracked and sold to. This one is built for a town: the employer writes the advert themselves, a person reads it before it goes up, and the applicant emails the person doing the hiring. That’s the whole machine.
If you’re looking for work
Start with the filters
Pick the hours you can actually work — evenings, weekends, term time — and the kind of work you want. If you’re not sure what to type, leave the search box empty and read the board.
Read the whole listing
Each one says what the shift pattern is, what the employer is looking for, and what they’ll train you in. Many of them say no experience needed and mean it — the care home pays for your care certificate, the pub will teach you to cook.
Send a short, specific note
Your name, your email, and a few lines about why this job and when you can start. Mention something from the advert. You don’t need a CV to apply, and you don’t need an account.
If you’re hiring
Fill in the form
Title, employer, where the work is, hours, pay, and the advert itself. It takes about five minutes. Posting is free and there’s no limit on how many roles you list.
It gets read
Submissions are checked before they appear, usually the same day. If something’s missing — no pay range, no shift pattern — you may be asked to add it, because those are the two things applicants ask about most.
Applications land in your inbox
Every application arrives as an email with the applicant’s name, address and note. You reply directly. Nobody screens them for you, and nobody takes a cut.
Questions people ask
Does it cost anything?
No. Posting a job is free and applying is free. There are no featured listings to buy.
Who runs the board?
It’s run locally, by the site owner, who reads every submission before it goes live. Contact details for the board itself are [board contact email].
How long does a job stay up?
Until it’s filled. If you’ve filled a role, email the board and it comes down the same day. Listings that are clearly out of date get removed.
Can I apply for more than one job?
Yes, and you should. Each application goes to a different employer, so there’s no harm in applying for several in the same week.
Do you take agency adverts?
No. The board is for employers hiring for their own workplace. Agency listings and reposted adverts are turned down.
